Hi, I’m Candice. I’m a highly skilled and compassionate chartered clinical psychologist with extensive training and experience in helping people to feel better. I work with teenagers and adults with an array of issues such as stress, anxiety, low mood, trauma or grief. I have a special interest in working with bereavement and grief, in particular, with bereaved parents who have experienced baby loss.
I have worked in mental health services across the NHS, local authority and private sectors for over 10 years. I have developed a deeper understanding of the emotional impact of challenging life events and am skilled in developing a shared understanding with my clients about why they feel the way they do. This process alone can help people start to feel better about themselves and their situation. I am also skilled in sharing knowledge and ideas about different coping strategies to give my clients tools to cope with their difficulties, in addition to or instead of the ones they have developed already.
I also have a strong research background. I have worked at The University of Manchester and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London researching areas such as psychosis, suicide and cannabis use and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy groups for adults experiencing psychosis. I have co-authored academic publications and presented at academic conferences. My research skills enable me to critically appraise research related to my client’s difficulties and keep abreast of developing areas in clinical practice and evidence based therapies.
My Values
I am committed to providing a safe and comfortable space where people feel they can share information about themselves without feeling judged, pathologised or stigmatised. I am dedicated to developing trusting and caring therapeutic relationships in the hope clients leave sessions feeling better and more resilient in both the shorter and longer term.
Models I Work With
I draw on different psychological models such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) skills. I also offer Autism assessments for teenagers and adults.
Clinic Information
I see clients in person on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings. I run online clinics during the day on Mondays and Wednesdays.
