Bio:

Hi, I’m Beth and I’m a creative therapist with a Masters in Dramatherapy. I’m registered with the HCPC. I have been working with children and young people for two decades now and a qualified therapist for 12 years. I have a wealth of experience from working in mainstream and SEN schools and community settings.

Dramatherapy for children
Play and creative expression are how children naturally process and make sense of the world around them. In Dramatherapy, they are given the space to express themselves through a range of tools such as puppets, small world figures, sand tray, art materials, stories and sensory play.

Drama is a powerful and practical tool for learning as it provides a space to try out and practise new skills before they are put to use in the outside world. I am very flexible in my approach and adapt to the child’s needs and interests.

I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent children, young people and adults. I have lived experience of family members, both formally diagnosed and self-identifying, and understand the joys and challenges that this can bring. I am neuroaffirming in my approach.

Areas I have experience supporting children and young people are:
Building confidence and self-esteem
ADHD, Autism and Learning Disabilities
Bereavement
Selective mutism
Domestic violence
Divorce and separation
Developmental trauma
Chronic illness and disability

Dramatherapy for adults
Dramatherapy can be of real benefit to adults too! Maybe you struggle to identify or name how you are feeling. Or maybe you can rationalise and talk about your feelings but have difficulty connecting to and expressing them.

A creative approach in therapy can help create a safe distance that helps bypass your defences and allow healing safely. There is no pressure to perform in sessions. You are offered tools such as image cards, story cards, art materials and movement exercises to enable you to tell your story.

If you’re interested in finding out more about how I can support you and/or your child, then please do book in a free telephone consultation to discuss how I can help. It’s important to find the right therapist for you.
