Bio:

Hello, I’m Lily, a Certified Play Therapist committed to creating a heart-centred environment where every child can feel heard, held and honoured. I provide a space that is warm, attentive and collaborative, tailored to your child’s unique world. My practice is neurodivergent-affirming owing to my experiences as a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teacher. Prior to this, my role as an Early Years Teacher gave me a solid grounding in child development and early attachment. These “front line” chapters from my career also help me to connect clinical support and the daily reality of a child’s school life.

My experiences working therapeutically with children include those presenting with anxiety, low self esteem, ADHD, and children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition. I have supported children who are experiencing bereavement, parental separation, children who have experienced domestic abuse, as well as those exploring their identity or navigating peer difficulties. I have completed additional training in Developmental Trauma with Beacon House and offer a trauma-informed approach.

Play is the child’s first language. To help children in expressing the things that can be hard to put into words, I use an integrative holistic model of Play Therapy. This integrates the therapeutic use of a range of tools including sand, clay, arts and crafts, therapeutic storytelling, role-play, music, dance and movement. I have been continually inspired over my 14 years working with children, parents and families, throughout which my journey has been guided by a commitment to nurturing children’s wellbeing and growth. If you are a parent seeking therapy for your child, I would be honoured to support them during this formative time.

I offer a free 15-minute initial phone consultation. If you decide to proceed, we will meet together in person or via video call before my first session with your child. The first session gives your child an opportunity to meet me, explore the space and experience play therapy, after which we will decide together whether to continue.

I currently have availability on Tuesday afternoons and evenings.

Qualifications:

Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy from Leeds Beckett University - Distinction

Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills from Leeds Beckett University - Distinction

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status from Durham University - First Class Honours

I am a registered member of Play Therapy UK (PTUK) and adhere to their Ethical Framework. I also hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
