On Sunday 4 October, we welcomed Rotem Metfield to The Mill Hill Therapy Hub for an engaging in-person CPD workshop at our Sunbury Avenue site. From 6:30pm to 8:00pm, therapists came together to explore what can happen when therapeutic work moves beyond talking.
“Beyond Talking: Using creativity, movement and play in therapy” was a warm, practical and thoughtful evening. Rotem combined discussion, demonstration and experiential activities to show how creative approaches can help clients express emotions, build resilience and access meaningful change.
What did the workshop explore?
The session looked at practical ways to bring creativity into therapeutic work with children, adolescents and adults. We explored how movement, drama, art and storytelling can support emotional expression, particularly when something feels difficult to put into words.
There was also space to consider creative ideas for working with anxiety, bereavement and stress. Just as importantly, the workshop invited practitioners to reflect, share and experience some of the activities for themselves.

The opening slide introduced Rotem as a Drama and Movement Therapist and the creator of the RAWR Method. Her approach recognises that therapy does not always need to begin with sitting down and talking about a problem. Sometimes movement, imagery, play or storytelling can create a different route into self-expression.

It was an intimate group, sitting in a circle for discussions, demonstrations and hands-on experiential activity. There were refreshments, a warm and generous atmosphere and plenty of thoughtful participation throughout the evening. Everyone left with practical ideas they could take straight into their own practice the following week.
Who is Rotem Metfield?
Rotem works with children, adolescents and adults as a Creative Empowerment Therapist. She uses creativity, movement, drama, play, visual arts and storytelling to help people explore what may feel difficult to reach through conversation alone.
She is also the creator of RAWR, a method built around four stages: Reveal, Allow, Wake and Roar. These stages help people notice what is happening beneath the surface, make space for their feelings, reconnect with themselves and find more freedom in how they move through life.

Who joined us?
A big thank you to Jane Farleigh, Zara Gabrielle and Zoe Onifade for coming along and contributing to the evening. We love seeing our practitioners learn from one another and bring different perspectives into the room. ✨
