Talya Ressel is a UK-based psychotherapist with nearly two decades of clinical experience, having worked in both South Africa and England since 2005. She is currently based in Mill Hill, London, where she works with individuals, couples, and families.
At the heart of Talya’s work is a belief that therapy should feel both professional and deeply human. She brings curiosity, warmth, and authenticity to the therapeutic space, grounded in her own lived experience of navigating the complexities of life, relationships, and parenthood. These experiences, alongside her clinical training, have shaped her particular interest in emotional regulation, living with high sensitivity, and supporting individuals, couples, and families when anxiety and stress is impacting their lives.
Talya draws on a range of psychological models and approaches, integrating cutting-edge research with practical, body-based and grounding tools that support meaningful change in everyday life. She has a particular passion for Internal Family Systems (IFS) and uses this model as a central framework in both her clinical work and her own personal development. Talya is Level 3 trained in Internal Family Systems and also works as a Program Assistant on IFS trainings, supporting the learning and development of new therapists within this internationally recognised model.
IFS offers a compassionate way of understanding the different “parts” within us that shape our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours—much like the concept portrayed in the Inside Out films. Talya helps clients develop a deeper relationship with these parts, understand what they need, and cultivate greater internal balance, resilience, and self-leadership.
In addition to her private practice, Talya runs therapeutic groups and workshops, and consults with schools and organisations on emotional wellbeing, mental health, and relational dynamics. She is also a well-respected voice in the media, having appeared regularly on radio and television in both the UK and South Africa, and having contributed numerous articles to print media.
Talya’s approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded, offering a space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to create meaningful and sustainable change.
The first step towards working together is to contact Talya to arrange a free 10-15 minute introductory phone call, offering an opportunity to explore what support you are seeking and whether working together feels like the right fit.
