Community, sushi and new beginnings at our September social!

by | Sep 4, 2026

There is something wonderfully special about bringing practitioners together away from their therapy rooms. Last night, around 15 members joined us at the Sunbury Avenue site for our first evening social of the new academic year, and it was a lovely way to begin the year together 😊

There were familiar faces, including practitioners who have been part of the Mill Hill Therapy Hub community since 2022, as well as members who joined us for the first time this academic year. A particularly warm welcome to our newest members. We are so pleased you are here!

It was lovely to see such a wide range of members around the table. Talya Ressel and Janine Tamman have been with the Mill Hill Therapy Hub for a long time, while Jo Bradburn and Sarah Cheyette-Cohen have been part of our community for a few years. We were also so pleased to welcome newer members Ben Vittori, Simon Glazer and Hayley Scott, who have recently joined us. Hayley also gave a brilliant parenting talk at the Hub.

What did we enjoy?

The evening was relaxed, friendly and full of good conversation. We shared lots of lovely sushi, caught up with one another and talked about the realities of running a private practice. There was no formal agenda, just space to connect, ask questions and enjoy being with people who understand the work we do.

For us, that is what our socials are all about. We want the Mill Hill Therapy Hub to feel like more than a place to rent a room. We want it to be a supportive, inclusive community where practitioners can build connections and feel that they are not working in isolation.

Did everyone know the rooms?

Some of our members had not yet seen the Sunbury Avenue rooms in person, so we enjoyed showing them around.

The Sunbury Avenue Adult Room is our largest talking therapy space in Mill Hill, with comfortable seating, a calming atmosphere, high-speed Wi-Fi and practical touches such as a tea and coffee station.

The Sunbury Avenue Art and Play Room at the Mill Hill Therapy Hub

We also visited the Sunbury Avenue Art and Play Room. With art materials, a sand tray, a dolls’ house, games and a children’s sink, it is designed for child practitioners and creative therapists.

It was great to see members discovering how flexible the spaces can be and imagining how they might work for their own clients.

Why was supervision such a big part of the conversation?

Many members of our supervision groups came along, so it was natural that peer supervision became one of the evening’s main topics.

Peer supervision is part of membership at the Mill Hill Therapy Hub. It gives practitioners a valuable opportunity to reflect on their work, share ideas and support one another in a thoughtful professional setting. Working in mental health can be rewarding, but it can also feel demanding. Having trusted peers around you makes a real difference.

It was also great to have Rommy Simon and Jane Farleigh there, both of whom are part of the Hub’s exciting peer supervision groups.

What do our members love about the Hub?

We also asked members what they love about the Mill Hill Therapy Hub. Their video responses highlighted three themes: community, flexibility and our socials. 💛

Would you like to join us?

If you are looking for flexible therapy room rental and a genuinely supportive professional community, you can explore membership and room rental at the Mill Hill Therapy Hub.

You are also very welcome to contact the Hub with any questions or to arrange a conversation.

What’s coming up?

It was also lovely to see Claudia Sheena at the social. Although she does not have a Hub profile, she will be hosting an online Making Tax Digital talk at 8pm on Tuesday 22 September.

Thank you to everyone who came last night and helped make the evening such a positive one. We are excited about the year ahead and already looking forward to our next social! 🎉
